Mary Frances Green (House) Myers was born in Eastover, South Carolina to the late Paul Green and Daisy Johnson Green. She was one of their twelve children and was the last surviving sibling when she peacefully transitioned from labor to eternal rest on December 10, 2021 at her Tampa, Florida home. When her parents and other siblings preceded her in death, Mary served as matriarch of the large family.
Mary graduated from Webber High School. She married her high sweetheart, Robert Charles House and they moved to Tampa, Florida. Mr. Robert House preceded her in death. Her second husband, M/Sgt. George E. Myers, Jr. (US Air Force, Retired), also preceded her in death.
Mary Myers was a faithful member of St. John Cathedral where she sang in the choir and served on the Deaconess Board. An avid reader, she enjoyed solving word puzzles and crossword puzzles, listening to music and flower gardening.
She retired as Environmental Services Superintendent of Physical Plant at USF in 1997 and during her 30 years, she served on the University’s EEOC Appeal and Grievance panel, advocated for equity in promotions, helped establish a scholarship for students and earned suggestion awards from the State of Florida (one from Governor Rubin Askew) for her ideas on efficiency and reduction in workers compensation claims.
She is survived by her children: Attorney Carolyn House Stewart (Delano), Colonel Robert Lee House, US Army, Retired (Lynette), Minister Sara Joan Dillard-House, Marvin House (LeAnn), Monica Myers, and bonus son, George E. Myers, III (Philena). 14 Grandchildren, 10 Great-Grandchildren and she also leaves a host of other family members and special friends.
